Prairie River is a series of 4 books by the author Kristiana Gregory. It is about a girl named Vanessa "Nessa" Clemens. She is a 14-year old orphan who runs away from her arranged marriage to the town of Prairie River, Kansas. This book is set at the very end of the Civil War. The Prairie River books were published by Scholastic Inc.
